Rose raised a hand to her bodice, where a four leaf clover lay nestled over her left breast in a drawstring bag. She had found it on her windshield just like he has said that he would, and she had hurried to find something to put it in. Lowering her hand she smiled at her mother as she finished lacing her corset. She turned towards the mirror to check her outfit, smiling at the effect the cream blouse had against her pale skin, the black corset pressing and lifting her breasts upwards, the brooch glittering in the center. She tightened the leather belt at her waist and smiled at her mother, giving her a peck on the cheek before picking up her cloak and practically dancing out the door in a flurry of red skirts.
After about a 20 minute drive she stepped out of her car and breathed in deeply, a serene smile growing over her lips. The wind picked up and she shivered, leaning into the car to get her cloak, which she swirled over her shoulders and lifted the generous hood; pulling the extra over her face to make sure that it did not blow back. The scents that drifted on the air instantly filled her with peace and excitement at the same time. Around her others in garb were heading to the front gates; pirates, wenches, lords, ladies, knights and fools alike. Others were readying themselves at their cars, putting on last minute pieces.
Others were walking in as well in regular clothes, children in Halloween costumes, and others with half assed 'costumes'. The all made their way to the gates, where cannons stood and lines formed at the ticket booth. Rose smiled and opened her brown leather pouch, checking to make sure her season pass was there, but reaching for her camera instead and pulled it out to snap pictures of the scenery as well as the opening ceremony. She saw friends and wandered over to say hello, and stood and talked to them. All of a sudden she felt her pouch vibrate and flipped it open to pull out her cell phone. Unlocking it she saw a text message from him:
"You look so beautiful." Her heart raced and she looked up and around her, trying to spot him in the crowd. But it was closer and closer to the opening ceremony and it was hard to see faces clearly. She glared around one last time before enjoying the ceremony. Even though she knew it was coming, she still jumped as the opening canon sounded and everyone moved into and through the gates, the ticket girl scanning her pass and letting her through the gates.
Rose opened her phone again and sent him a text back, "You know this will really start to bug me". She walked into one of the booths and started to look at the skirts and she heard the tell tale chuckle, almost as if it were right beside her. She tried to look through the clothes, but she couldn't see anything. She muttered curses at him and continued shopping, and attended a few shows. Then she felt her pouch vibrate again as she was eating lunch.
"Why are you eating alone? Come eat with me." Rose snorted.
"Why are you not joining me?" She retorted, setting the phone down. And she heard his chuckle again, and she shuddered, knowing he'd see it. The "hunting" was an agreed game, but she was getting frustrated, and she knew that he knew it. The fact that he was getting closer and closer to her only proved to her that he was better at tracking her and getting away from her than she thought.
She finished eating and stood, shaking out her skirts and cloak and wandering down the main market street to visit her sister and her friend at the game booths. She laughed and watched the passer-byes with their beers and their garb and staying by for the royal parade, bowing with everyone else as the King and Queen walked by. Rose stood and walked farther down the lane and said hello to another friend before moving to the joust arena and smiled at the cheers and trumpets. The pirates shooting off their black powder guns echoed over the lake as the afternoon sun rose high.
Rose passed them all by and walked to the clearing behind it all, her hood pulled up as there was no buffer for the wind. She felt her pouch vibrate again and she opened her phone.
"Why standing all alone young lady?" She smiled and her fingers flew over the keys.
"I wait for one who is evading me..." She replied and put everything away, drawing her cloak closer around her as she waited. She knew that it was the right time, with how close he was getting to her. She concentrated inward, centering herself and making sure to not give herself away.
Suddenly she felt large hands over her face and heard his voice in her ear. "Hello little Rose," his voice growled in her ear and his arms turned her and one hand kept her eyes covered and he tilted her head up and she felt his lips descend on hers. She smiled as she kissed him and tilted her head to the side, his hand still over her eyes giving her a comical lit.
"Can i have my eyes back or are you just going to make me blind for the rest of the day?" He chuckled and lifted his hand from her face and she blinked up at him and gave him a brilliant smile. "A pleasure to meet you Orm," she said, dipping a cute curtsy. He smiled and laughed, which made Rose pout and glare at him.
"Gods you're so beautiful," Orm whispered and placed his large hand on her cheek as she tried to hide her face in her left shoulder, tutting as she did so. "Don't hide those gorgeous eyes from me."
Rose looked up at him and her blue-green eyes flickered over his face, taking it all in. She stepped closer to him and looked up into his face, her hood falling back so that her hair fell free to shine in the sunlight. He tilted her face upwards again and once again their lips met, softly, testing. Almost instinctively, Rose's hand rose and laid just above his heart, and Orm pulled her closer, one hand still holding her head. Their kiss intensified and Rose felt crushed in his arms, but didn't care.
Suddenly hoots and hollers came from the pirate encampment as well as a few booms from black powder guns startled them apart. Rose turned and laughed at them, red in the face, giving them a low bow and blew them all a kiss.
"YOU KNOW YOU ENJOYED IT!!" She called back, flipping them the bird. Orm tried to stop her but she just laughed and slapped his hand lightly. "It's okay hon, they know me and i know them." Rose knew that it would get back to an individual that she was seen with Orm and she was counting on it.
Hand in hand they moved past Joust and over to the pirate encampment, so that she could say hello and introduce Orm to everyone. After introductions were made and small talk had, they moved on to different vendors; browsing and chatting with each other. Orm being the playful ass that he was started suggesting ridiculous outfits and gifts, picking out the gaudiest jewelry known to man and suggesting that she buy it.
Her laugher rang joyfully at each outlandish suggestion as well as dismayed and indignant squawks at one comment or another. They watched the steel fighting show, Orm constantly critiquing and knocking on one particular move or another. She laughed and joked with him, introducing her to more friends and faire-family along the way as they explored.
As they neared the front gates, Rose started to tug excitedly at Orm's hand. "They're dancing!" She cried out, dashing like a happy five year old to the Checkmate Stage where acoustic guitars and doumbeks where being played. Orm smiled as he followed her and Rose bounced as she saw her friends perform. The Masala Gypsy Dancers had the stage, wowing the crowd with belly dance, flamenco, saidi and other forms of dance. Rose loved watching the troupe dance, and she felt a thrill as she watched them.
Orm leaned down and whispered in her ear as he wrapped his arms protectively around her. "We're being watched," and a slow smile crept across her face.
"Oh really?" She said, sliding her eyes to the side. Sure enough, across on the other side of the audience a pirate watched them, his expression ever changing. "Should I?" She whispered as she turned her gaze back to the dancers.
His chuckle was the only answer she needed as she looked up at him and smiled, then looked back at the pirate; a small older male with barely any build except for around his middle and an almost sullen expression eternally etched onto his face. Then she regarded the Viking who held her, his strong arms able to shield and protect her, tall and strong and virile, who's face lit up as he laughed and talked. The Viking's chest was broad and powerful, muscled and strong and with him she felt safe. She looked back at the scrawny pirate, regarding him with a cool and distant eye before looking back up at Orm, who was watching her with an amused look on his face, his eyes shining.
As she looked at Orm a slow smile spread across her face and she crooked her finger at him winking as he bent his head to kiss her. The thrill of kissing him passed through her again and she looked up at him as they broke the kiss, smiling brilliantly at him before looking across the audience, directly at the pirate. Suddenly Rose started laughing, as the pirate had left the area.
She looked over and the girls had started doing their final dance. Rose caught the eye of one of her friends in the troupe and waved. She waved back and motioned to her to come up as the rest of the troupe started bringing others from the audience up. Rose smiled and unclasped her cloak, pecking Orm on the cheek and asking him to hold the cloak as she joined her friend on stage and they danced to the very final song, her eyes only for Orm. When the song ended she trilled along with the other dancers and gave her friend a hug before hopping off the stage and returning to Orm's side.
They continued to wander, and as the sun set everyone who had stayed slowly made their way to the Good Knight Pub for the final Pub Sing. Everyone raised their voices with the cast and musicians and laughed at the comedy. Soon it came to sing the final song, "Health To The Company". Rose had sent Orm the song before he came to Faire, and so they both sang it with the others.
Final canon boomed and they made their way to the front gate, Orm walking Rose to her car.
"I had a wonderful time beautiful," he said, kissing her again. Rose smiled and hugged him, her pelvis pressing to him.
"I hope its not over yet," she purred, nipping at his lower lip. Orm chuckled and pressed her to her car, causing her to gasp with surprise and lust; her eyes glazing over as she looked at him.
"Oh it wont be," he replied. He gave her directions to the hotel where he was staying. "I'm sure you know how to get there."
Rose nodded and stole a kiss from him before getting into her car. "I'll meet you there." She promised and saw Orm smile as he walked to his rental. Rose sighed as she watched him walk away. It was going to be a wonderful weekend.
