Faire - Weekend Five - Celtic Weekend

This is from the 2009 Faire,
I have yet to see this season's "health to the company" posted.

Celtic Weekend was filled with fun, revelry and a bit of drama. But what do you expect from a Faire full of die-hard Rennies? Hehe

When I mention drama, the little things come up first, like a child running out onto the field with it's mother close behind; due to the fact that one of the heralds wasn't paying attention. Or when Luke the white stallion finally decided he had had enough and figured out how to get out of his stall and went with the other horses to munch on the grass as they were being walked.

Then of course there was the one archery show that i wanted to beat the living crap out of one of the guys on the crew, merely because he was too busy paying attention to other things than doing his job. But that's water under the bridge now.

Rain, a Peregrine Falcon with Flight of The Raptor

As for some shows, Baz from Flight of the Raptor decided to fly off again Saturday afternoon, and didn't return until Sunday evening during final Pub Sing as Master R flew Chula, his Saker Falcon. It was a very happy evening for everyone that does that show, as well as for Master R.

It was a bittersweet moment as it came to that time where the whole cast made it to the Pub Stage and started singing the final song.  Tears were shed all around, me included.  So hard to not keep it together.  I thought that it would be no different as a participant than as a playtron, but it certainly is.  You make new friends, meet up with old ones.  There is a sad truth to the song, seeing as how two people from the previous faire passed away before this season started.

As soon as most of the patrons had left we all meandered back to encampment and hung out. Joking around back and forth, playing with the sleepy puppy and waiting for our boss to get back from the back gate for a final speech.  My friend J decided it would be a good time to sit and take a nap on one of the chairs in camp.  And of course a few of us had to take some photos cuz that's what we do apparently.

I wandered over to say goodbye and visit with some of the the pirates since I made friends with a few of them during the three months i was with the psycho.  G was helping to burn off all of the firewood that they had in their encampment and he built a roaring fire to start burning it all away.

It was a very pretty fire and quite warm as the temperature started to drop as the evening wore on.  Soon i went back to camp and Nothing convinced me to go to Halftime Sports Bar just over the wall.  I didn't have any clothes with me other than the garb that i was wearing so she let me borrow some of her clothes and off we went.

I had a blast. Hanging out with friends, having the PERFECT mudslide made by a very busy, flustered and gorgeous bartender.  Went back to camp to get ready to head home annnnddd felt the alcohol hit... so i decided to stay at camp and wait out the effects while i sipped a bit of water.

Didn't get home until midnight or so but it was so worth going out and spending more time with friends.

Until Next Season!!

Faire - Weekend Four - Wenches Weekend

Front of the braids 3/5/2011

So Last weekend was Wenches Weekend at FLARF.

Early last week I had checked my bank account and saw that I had gotten my tax return back.  My first order of business Saturday after getting dressed was to go to get my hair braided by the Twisted Sisters at Exquisitely Twisted while Boss Wench opened.  Once my hair was done, I went over to Boss Wench to get myself a REAL corset.

Boy is it an improvement over the Frederick's corset I had been wearing before. Nice and tight, no bowing, my back is held nice and straight and the girls look fucking FANTASTIC swelling out of it!

Just lookit them puppies!!
*Does happy dance in chair*
Okay yeah hehe
-_-'

But still, I was walking around most of the day petting my corset and grinning like a loon because I FINALLY have a REAL corset that wont bow and bruise me.  I transfered my wolf bodice pin to the new corset as well and it looks even better on my new one. I had been wearing my big circle skirt that day, and I WISH I could have gotten a full photo of the outfit, but I didn't.  It wouldn't have mattered much anyway because later that day it started to get rainy and when that skirt gets wet it gets heavy and very cumbersome, so I trekked back to my tent to change into my pantaloons.

Sunday I went straight for the pantaloons and was entertaining the thought of wearing my smaller red skirt but went without it.  After I had gotten tied into my corset I went up front and got my hair braided again.

This braid was far more comfortable and fun to wear, and goes much better with how I like my style; simple and elegant.  After I had gotten my hair braided I went back to camp and worked for a bit until i took a quick break to go visit friends and get the burgundy cloak from a friend of mine who had made it for me.

It served me well when it started to rain in the afternoon, just pulled the hood up and wrapped the cloak around me and i was pretty much covered.  Whats lovely about the cloak itself is that its machine washable AND dry able as well. Which I did when I got home Monday night along with my big skirt.

Apparently it also helps attract photographers, since both of the photos with me in the cloak are from the same photographer who was more than kind enough to email me the prints.  I also am waiting for a few more from another photographer to post so that I can pull those as well.

Next weekend is Celtic Weekend and I'm actually formulating an outfit in my mind as I type this.  It certainly will be interesting i think.

Faire - Weekend Three - Pets Weekend

Kirby's sleeve got in the way... the stinker.

Its closing in on Bodacious Bodice weekend as I sit at my office desk writing this entry, but this week has been rift with work and a smidge of drama to make things interesting and a two day depression to REALLY fuck shit up....

*ahem* anyways...

It wasn't as big of a disaster as I thought it would be. People were pretty good about keeping their dogs back from the field for the horses... though the parents were still cranky about taking their kids off their shoulders.  There was mostly dogs, however I saw a brown and white skunk that was SOO soft, and there was a guy walking around with a young boa constrictor on his neck.  Course Saturday's pub sing was awesome because I met Sable there, a sweet Shepard mix and such a love.

Though I HAVE to say that the top best moment of the weekend was when I was walking towards the gaming glen on Sunday and seeing Riven standing at one of the sign posts looking all dark and handsome.  I couldn't help but smile as I walked up to him and tilt my head for a kiss. D and C were there as well, and I wandered with them for a little bit until I had to go back to work for the final archery show.

I had to hide from the sun part of the day, it was just being too hot and Saturday I had gotten burned really bad so the heat alone was irritating it.

The other amazing part of Sunday was that night at pub sing there was a woman there with a WEEK OLD raccoon kit.  My heart just melted and she put the kit on my chest and I started petting it and scratching the back of its neck and it just calmed down.  One of my friends got a photo of it and I'm itching to get the picture so that I can post it.

Hoping this weekend is just as fun!

Faire - Weekend Two - Pirate Weekend

So second weekend was a lot of fun, if not long considering it was a three day weekend. Three FULL days of Faire... And of course it was Pirates weekend, so there was a shit ton of "pirates" out... i put it in quotes only because there were patrons that were digging out the cheesy pirate costumes by leg avenue and others from party city and it was just sad. Especially the women walking around in shorty skirts, fishnet stocking and barely anything else.  The saving graces were the fact that they had the proper forethought to wear full underwear instead of the "normal" thong/g-string that matched the outfit.  I understand the fact that patrons are paying good money to get in but jesus...  *shakes head*

A proper pirate-esque outfit

I had a lot of idiots last weekend, complaining that they couldn't see and standing against the ropes and in the bleachers.  Monday i was VERY cranky and stressed even with my meds, and the mounting anxiety from my ex constantly staring at me never helped.  Thankfully i had a distraction in one of the other JS members who would rub my back and arms and generally distract me as best as he could.

The night before didn't help either.  My feet were killing me and E rubbed my feet and also nearly put me to sleep.  I crawled into my tent and fell asleep for an hour or two, then i was awoken by people coming back to camp speaking full voice if not yelling, no less the headlights from one of the guys's car pointed RIGHT at my tent.  So i was up for maybe a half hour or a bit longer, sitting in my chair watching the goings on around me before thankfully A decided to start petting and giving me scritches, which always makes me sleepy so when E suggested i go back to bed, i shuffled back into my tent and slept hard the rest of the night.

This weekend will be much better.  I'm going to be able to go and see Riven Saturday night after canon, and be able to spend some one on one time with him. I've been mandated to not tire him out *chuckles* not like it's MY fault that we want each other so badly.  But i promised i'd do my best to behave and to interact with the room mates (provided they aren't sick.. i'm not allowed to get sick until like.. MAY with everything that's going on in my life atm).

Sunday Riven and one of his room mates will be coming to Faire, and he and i talked about making a point of telling my ex to quit watching me like a stalker.  Even though the boys of JS as well as my "boss" there have told me that if i see him on field to let them know and they'll make sure he's taken away.  *smirks* gotta love having tatas!!

FLARF - First Weekend Romance Weekend

Pub Sing 2-12-2011

So opening weekend of Faire was this past weekend and I had a BLAST.  Camping was fun, Friday night I had a massage at 7 and I had to go to Target afterwards and get heavier duty tent stakes since the ones that came with my tent were pussy-ass things and could not withstand the winds that picked up during the week.

Friday night at camp I set up the inside of my tent, blowing up my air mattress and unpacking a bit, making sure things were in readiness for the coming weekend.  Slowly the camp ground filled up as people came from work or school or where ever. Everyone hung out huddled in blankets and coats and drank, smoked (cigs and pot), and chatted all night. Went to bed around 1-1:30 am and stayed awake for a little bit listening to a few people talking before that lulled me to sleep.  I was briefly awoken by rain before that sent me back to sleep.

Was up Saturday morning because of the birds and wanted to hide in bed with the warm blankets and sleeping bag... but i had to get up and work. Got up and decided that with how wet it was my monster skirt would not be coming out that day,  I actually ended up leaving my sweat pants on underneath my pantaloons that day because of how cold it was. A friend was kind enough to let me borrow her sweater poncho (as seen in the above photo) so i was able to keep warm mostly through the day.  One awesome thing about having my tails and the fur on my backside... if my hands started to get too cold i could easily just tuck them under the tails and the fur and they instantly warmed up.  Heralding is NOT my forte, i found out the hard way, however I did find that directing is better, standing behind the dais and letting people know that wandering around behind it would get them to more seating. Outside of the Joust there is the birds of prey and archery shows, both of which are just as interesting and require our presence there.  What was amazing was that during the bird show one of the hawks flew RIGHT over my head, and i didn't even duck.  Which isn't a smart thing to do anyways, only because it messes up the bird's flight path.  They've already figured out how they're going to get around you, so don't fuck them up by moving.

Saturday night she was pacing, needing to see Riven.  She wouldn't stop and eventually i said fuck it and went to the fetish party, letting him know i was coming.  My friend Andrew went with me just to make sure I didn't make a mess of myself, which i was about to do half the time before he came in, i was pacing back and forth, my fingers automatically going to my tiger's eye in the leather pouch around my neck trying to channel the energy away, but it kept coming back.  But as soon as he walked in we calmed and took in his energy and his scent.  The power around us intensified and the passion flared red hot.

Part of the reason why I needed him was the fact that my shit head ex was about much too often for my liking, and it doesn't help that the pirate encampment is RIGHT next to Joust. So the stress and anxiety of that only served as a catalyst to the need for Riven. Course feeling him watching me at Pub Sing didn't help EITHER.... i had to move deeper into the crowd so that i didn't feel his eyes on my back.

Sunday was a much better day.  I felt centered and calm and ready to take on the day.  It was longer and i was in the sun a lot more, but was still so worth it.

Faire Maiden - Not Kink Related

My humble abode for Faire

So it is almost here!!
The awesomeness that is the Florida Renaissance Festival.

My tent is pitched, i still need to go out and get heavier duty tent stakes because the ones that came with the tent are wimpy little things.  Granted once everything is IN the tent it'll be harder to blow away; but i'm still going to go out and get a few anyways.  I need to find more D cell batteries because even though i have some for my lantern (the ones for my air mattress pump are going to be put in there), i still need spares and lord knows what else I may need to use them for.

Thankfully the garb that i do have is versatile and i can do things and switch things up from time to time, as well as layer things.  That will be the toughest thing to sort through while in my tent. But i know that i'll get it properly packed Thursday before I toss everything that i need to put in that in there, even my monster skirt will be MADE to fit in there dammit!

Most of my stuff for Faire

My supplies are pretty organized, i have to treat my Minnetokas tonight to make sure that they are properly sealed and ready for tromping around through the grass, dirt, dust, rocks and mud (if it rains). I had to order a second chemise (on sale for 16 bucks at etsy.com, cant beat it really) because i only have the fancy frilly one and that gets hot enough as it is without the extra layer of a corset!  I'll probably have my sister help me make a second chemise and possibly a "light" circle skirt or two just to add a little bit more variety into my wardrobe.  I also have a pair of black gaucho pants that i can wear when i don't feel like wearing my pantaloons. I have about 3-4 different variations of garb with one set of clothes alone.  Granted the blue Irish Dress is a bit harder to work with though I do/have had a few ideas, especially if i end up making a plain black circle skirt and a second chemise.  Similarly i can use my "fancy" chemise with the blue irish dress and black skirt and have the irish dress over top and have it look really cute.

I love having sparks of creative genius!

Granted the walk to Joust will be a pain but will still be fun methinks.

I still need to get a few supplies, as well as finding some travel sized stuff to brush teeth and what not.

Florida Renaissance Festival

So this year I will be working FLARF, after years of going as a patron, and a playtron last year.  I've been hooked since Middle School when my history teacher insisted on taking us to the one school day that they always have for various schools to come and visit.  That day I went home to my family and ranted and raved about it and we have been going ever since.

I've always wanted to actually work Faire, dress up in garb (because they aren't COSTUMES damnit...) and wrap myself in the fantasy and the ambiance of Faire. Last year I was able to do that as I went in a romantic garb as well as gypsy garb of a sort.

Romantic Garb
Gypsy Rose

Since I will be working Faire, and its a "family show", i wont be able to do the gypsy look since we're not allowed to show our bellies, but that can be easily fixed, as can that gypsy top since its a little small for me.  A few snips and ties added and I can still wear that top with some pantaloons and my corset and my boots, for which I need to buy the sealant since they're suede and they haven't been treated yet.  That will have to wait though as I have a few more things/supplies to get for camping.  I have my tent, a little thing that can easily fit me and my stuff.  Though I still need to find a light or lantern or something to see by and I know where to find something to inflate my air mattress.  I have fabric/blankets that i can use to cover my tote when/if I use it for a table or something of the sort.  I have a chair to use when we're done and hanging out around the camp fire.

Most of my garb is packed in the tote that i'm using to house all my garb short of a couple skirts and the white shirt that needs to be washed.  Luckily with the pantaloons and some of my other tops i can mix and match garb and have plenty of fun ways to make outfits, with and without skirts as well as a shawl or two that I can put over the skirts.  I have a pashmina shawl that I will most likely use as a base for my leather belt when i'm wearing my pantaloons and my corset so i have some splash of color against the black and white.

I also hope to maybe one weekend get my hair braided and looking all pretty for at least one weekend... because the rest of the weekends will probably be having my hair down, in a snood or pulled back and decorated with ribbon so people don't see the hair tie.  I also have yarn falls that i can use as well, have some fun.

I really want to go out and find a nice staff to use when i wander faire, be it part of my gypsy persona and i'd probably go and get baubles and feathers to put on it, as well as tying leather straps where i could hold it so i don't get callouses.

Will see what happens in the coming weeks.
